New Year is a great opportunity to start afresh and try new, exciting endeavours. Resolutions are often aimed towards keeping healthy and fit, as well as for many, losing weight. However, I do feel that many people create impossible weight loss goals for themselves and when February arrives, they feel like they failed themselves, ashamed of the results that fell short of expectations.

At Mizz Twisted Cherry we redirect these feelings and thoughts towards becoming a happier version of ourselves. We shift the focus away from losing weight and aiming for standards that may not always make you happy in the long run. We promote body positivity – being comfortable with who you are, no matter what the scales say. It is about how you feel about you. Our classes help create a more confident, happier and healthier you, physically, mentally and emotionally.

The nature of aerial and alternative dance lends itself to a journey of self-discovery for anyone who tries it. From the moment you attend your first lesson, you will encounter supportive people of all different shapes, sizes, gender and ages. We are all-inclusive and pride ourselves on being one big family. There is no elitist approach or cliquey groups – everyone who walks through the door is one of us, a cherry blossom!

I encourage you to make the New Year your new beginning, and take yourself on a new aerial adventure. Visit the studio, watch a class, or even better, join us and witness the creation of a healthier, happier and more body positive you.

What did we achieve last year?
2017 was a year of many amazing adventures for everyone at the studio. A number of UK based pole champions visited and taught workshops at our studio. We had our own annual fundraiser with spectacular performances by students of all levels.

Our group also performed at the very first international festival of pole, Once Upon A Pole. Attending the event felt extremely uniting for the students, it was a great achievement for our studio in its first year since opening.

What’s next for the studio?
This year in March we will celebrate our first birthday with an open day for members of the public – anyone can pop in for a little taster of our various classes. An outstanding weekend of burlesque is also in the pipeline, celebrating every attendee’s individuality. Other events in the calendar include a pole and burlesque photoshoot with one of the industry’s top photographers, as well many workshops and performances ahead. Our plans include expanding the studio and growing our timetable of classes so I hope to see more new faces joining our blossom family.

If you have any questions about our unique aerial and alternative dance and fitness classes, workshops and events, please get in touch, I’d be happy to chat to you.

Gift vouchers for any of the lessons are available.
