Spinning at The Studio

The STUDIO: 1-2 Fields Yard, Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0EL

Spinning has always been among the most popular classes everywhere, and the reasons are many: it builds strength and cardio fitness fast; it melts away body fat; it’s accessible for any fitness level, including those recovering from an injury; and of course, spinning is great fun.

This year’s SPINATHON 2018 came about as a result of a collaboration between The Studio and Fullcycle Studio, both located at the Fields Yard in Plough Lane. The two gyms joined forces in support of two local charities – St. Michael’s Hospice and The Born Sleeping Appeal, which raises funds for a bereavement suite on the maternity ward at Wye Valley Trust Hospital.

Spinathon organiser Ben Harwood hopes that the event, which saw over 200 people signing up this year, will be the start of a long Spinathon partnership with Joe Loughman of Fullcycle Studio. Aiming to raise awareness and thousands of pounds for local charities along the way, the two fitness professionals offered their expertise, together with the generous support and commitment from the many spinners who take part every year.

“I have organised four previous events for charity,” says Ben, well known for his collaboration with other professionals. “But it was linking up with Katie Farmer at Wye Valley Trust that has taught me a lot about The Born Sleeping Appeal and their efforts to support the bereavement suite on the maternity ward.”

Ben has already held a Buggyfit fundraiser and will also be donating all class fees from The Studio’s Strength Circuit on Saturday mornings until the end of 2018. The nominated charities this year were obvious choices for Ben and Joe as both do amazing work for the Herefordshire community and help so many local families through very difficult times.

Every year the Spinathon event adds an extra dimension to it, and this year’s speciality was the addition of a Bootcamp hour, Buggyfit, TRX and other sessions for people to try out and donate.

You don’t have to wait for next year’s Spinathon though, you can sign up for spinning classes anytime, just get in touch with Ben Harwood at The Studio.
