The Studio was launched by Hereford personal trainer Ben Harwood to provide a new base for BeneFiT Training, his Strength & Conditioning and Personal Training business. It also hosts Buggyfit Hereford and Laura Keddie’s Flow Hair & Beauty. Having this new space has enabled Ben to concentrate solely on his clients by committing his time, energy and knowledge to one-to-one personal training and small group training. 

“I had great nine years at thePoint4 and I miss the staff and members,” he says, “but I am back on the gym floor here at The Studio, coaching individuals and groups with a wide range of goals and aspirations. This is what makes me tick – the interaction, close coaching and satisfaction from seeing a client or a team succeed.”   

Ben has been training some really driven people including county cricketers and GB dressage riders, as well as GB goalball players.

The Studio is primarily a personal training studio throughout the day, and clients can book individually or as a private group of friends or colleagues to use the space to train with Ben or another personal trainer (by appointment only). Clients enjoy the exclusivity and expertise without having to wait for equipment or share the space with others.  

Small Group Training sessions with specific training themes are available to the public from Monday to Saturday (see the timetable), with payment options for a single session or in bundles with great discounts.  Small groups are capped at 10 people so that attendees receive first class instruction and coaching at every session.  

Over the past 15 years, Ben has worked with some highly skilled and successful instructors in Hereford, none more so than Gareth Bennett of Train-GB. 

“Gareth has a great rapport with clients. He has been doing phenomenal strength and conditioning work with the England Blind Football team and GB Goalball squad, as well as with his private clients, so he is the perfect instructor for The Studio’s Small Group Training,” says Ben. 

The collaboration of the two personal trainers has resulted in an exciting timetable with new sessions being added as the popularity of The Studio continues to grow.  Small Group Training now also includes Hatha Yoga with Ian Lloyd, Total Tone with Denise Bailey, and there are plans to add Baby Yoga and additional indoor Buggyfit sessions, as well as training with Rob Purdie and Pilates with Leah Preston. Ben’s approach at The Studio means that if the clients want something, Ben is open to providing it, so he always welcomes feedback. 

With Joe and Nigel Loughman’s Fullcycle Studio next door, the Fields Yard area in Plough Lane is developing into a local fitness hub. Ben said: “Joe and Nigel are excellent neighbours, they have been very welcoming and helpful from the start. We have personal training, small group training and spinning all in the same street, which together with free parking and the close proximity to the city centre enables clients to walk to their sessions. This convenience helps eliminate the usual barriers that often get in the way of exercise.” 

Buggyfit is available in five locations across Hereford and Leominster, while an outdoor Bootcamp at The Copse in Burghill takes place on Monday nights. Whether you are interested in Small Group Training, Buggyfit or Bootcamp, The Studio welcomes everyone, so stop by and give it a try.
