Welcome to the Winter 2017/2018 edition!

You are most likely already dedicated to some form of exercise and healthy eating plan, but if you are still looking for a way to improve your lifestyle and bring about positive changes, this edition has plenty to offer.

Whatever your goals are, there are so many ways to keep your fitness going, but try something new to avoid boredom, and you’re halfway there. From outdoor bootcamps and tailored personal training sessions, to yoga, pilates or dance classes and martial arts, even racket sports – yes, even in winter! A number of therapists, health professionals, beauticians and hairdressers offer advice on subjects you are interested in, so why not use their treats and offers to rewards yourself for your hard work? Balance is so important in life – between work and play, training and rest, body and the mind… We all have to learn to pace ourselves.

To stick with a health programme long enough to achieve your goals, and then maintain them or to keep progressing further, is not easy – fitness has to have an element of fun, that joyful feeling when you remind yourself why you are doing all that exercise, or choosing a healthy meal your body needs, over a treat your mind wants. It all pays off later. But with the party season over and with spring still a bit away, what methods can help us stay the course?

Creating healthy habits can be challenging, but practice does makes perfect, or at least makes it easier. In any case, don’t go it alone. Recruit a friend or a family member to keep you motivated, and get some advice from those who are experts in the area you are trying to change. Remember, we can’t all be good at everything, and as one of our yoga teachers writes, progress, not perfection, is what we should be aiming for.

Thank you for writing to me, texting, calling and messaging me with your feedback and ideas, keep them coming, together with your inspirational stories.
So keep well, aim high, and make 2018 your year of success.
